You don't often come across cocktails that are made with Irish Whiskey. I thought it would be fun to make up something tasty and elegant for St. Patrick's Day.
I used Tullamore Dew Whiskey, which I find to be slightly sweeter and "rounder" than some of the other Irish Whiskeys.
I used typical Triple Sec, although it would be awesome with some Cointreau.
I used my own home made coffee liqueur, but of course Tia Maria or Kahlua would be fine.
There is just one word for Fee Brother's Aztec Chocolate Bitters - awesome! If you don't have them I highly recommend that you acquire some! In the meantime, you could substitute orange bitters, or even angostura bitters, (although I'd probably start with 1-2 dashes of angostura to see how it effects the drink).
Here's to St. Pat (and to spring!) Cheers.
2 oz Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey
.5 oz Coffee Liqueur
.5 oz Orange Liqueur
3-4 dashes Fee Brother's Aztec Chocolate Bitters
Stir all ingredients with ice. Strain into a Coupe or Martini glass. Garnish with an Orange Twist.
